Hillary said this in her concession speech on June 7, 2008, days after President Obama won the Democratic nomination. I’m pretty sure I cried my way through the entire speech. This particular piece stood out to me most of all. In the moment, of course, it was because of what it meant right then. But it holds true for everything, every day. Hillary tells us that even though we didn’t get what we wanted – there is too much to lose and now is too precious to live in then. For someone who often dwells in the past, it’s a good thing to remember.
